You've probably played the game Tic-Tac-Toe during school hours to pass time. It's fun playing with pencil and paper. Here we have developed a mini project in C Tic Tac Toe game-a simple, graphic-free console application.

It's the same noughts and crosses or the Xs and Os, the other titles you played with paper and pencil with Tic-Tac-Toe. This mini game project is written in a very simple way in C language; it is complete and absolutely error-free.

Compiled in Code:::Blocks with gcc compiler, this Tic Tac Toe game in C The source code is not that long; approximately 300 lines. Source code plus application file can be downloaded directly from the link below.

Development of Tic Tac Toe game using C:

It is important to make use of arrays when developing a Tic Tac Toe game using C language. The Xs and Os are placed in various collections, and they are moved between several code functions to keep track of how the game is going. You can play the game using the code here, choosing either X or O against the computer.

This Tic Tac Toe C game is such that you will need to enter a numerical character from 1 to 9 in order to select a position in the space you want for X or O. For instance: if you are playing with O and you are entering 2, the O will go to the first row–the second column. To position O in the third row-first column, insert 7. And, the other positions are close.

This was done because it's just a console program built in C language without any graphics. Gotoxy feature has been used in every part of the screen to print text.

Function Used:

I have divided this project into many features, and a list of those functions is given below. I have only detailed description of the gotoxy function. Just go through the source code once, and other functions are easy to understand and quick to use.

void menu() – It feature shows it project's menu or welcome screen within this mini project. Scroll down to see menu photo. You can choose whether you want to play the game with X or with O using this function.

void put_X_O(char ch, int pos) – In Tic-Tac-Toe, this feature positions one of the numerical characters you enter in the respective position. For example, if you play with X and enter 2, the X will go to the first row-the second column. You must enter 7 if you want to put X in the third row-first column. And, the other positions are close.

void gotoxy (int x, int y) – This role must be known, as it is one of the most essential used in Tic Tac Toe in C. This feature lets you print text anywhere on the computer. Using this function in Code::Blocks includes coding but it can be used directly in Turbo C. Code::Blocks and Devc++ provides a code for this function.

Here, COORD coord= {0,0}; is a global variable. This sets axis center to the screen's top left corner.

I haven't used file to record the player's number of games played, the machine or the number of games drawn. It may seem like a bad idea not to use file handling, but this C mini project on Tic Tac Toe Game will certainly help you to change and build a newer version of the Tic-Tac-Toe game using file handling to store records.

It is totally discouraged to apply this project as a C mini project for your school or college, with little or no modification.
